How to Write and Self-Publish a Non- Fiction Book

I have a book and property passion and I love to create both…

So when someone asks me how to publish a book it’s a bit like asking me how to renovate or develop a property. I don’t know what they are trying to achieve or what type of property they are trying to deliver to the market, or who the target market is.

There are a lot of strategies and ways to achieve the outcome you are looking for to make sure your project meets the needs of the buyers.

The same goes for a book…

The biggest problem is I find is most upcoming authors don’t know their outcome, so when I ask my first question;

“Why do you want to write your book?”… they don’t have a clear PURPOSE.

For me I wanted to inspire others and share success stories that moved me and hopefully would help others. For some this may be to share their story, message or expertise.

The second question I ask is;

“What is the outcome you want to achieve- the goals you have for your book?”

For me this was to have a book series and build a business behind my books.

Once you know the answer to these questions you will have a much better idea on how you will publish your book that will meet the needs of your book reader, while also fulfilling your own needs for writing your book. I will be sharing the different ways you can publish throughout this blog series.

Self-publishing a book has become a brilliant method to make your dreams for your book a reality.

But before you think about publishing and distributing your book, whether that be an audio book, physical book, eBook or all of the above, you first need to write your book.

Writing a book can be very simple when you know the steps and you think about the reader of your book, and what problems they want solved by reading it. You just need to answer their problems.

When you know who that reader is and what questions they want solved it becomes easy to write to them and give them the answers they are looking for. So write a list of the most common questions people ask you- the answers then become the content for your book.

Writing a book really is simply organising and ordering your knowledge around a subject that will help others.
