How to write a book- first get the ideas out of your head!

Brainstorm Puzzle On Notebook Showing Ideas And Inspiration For E-bookWriting a non-fiction book really is simply organising and ordering your knowledge and information around a subject that will help others.

Everyone has something they can share with the world.

You may have an expertise or a hobby that you want to share. Perhaps you have overcome adversity and want to help others to do the same. Maybe you want to write your memoir or biography and leave a legacy.

Whatever the reason for wanting to write a book you have to work out the best way to get the words on the page. And there are a lot of techniques to do this.

So start with a massive brainstorm of everything you want your book to be.

Things to Brainstorm about;

  • Do you want a physical printed book, audio book or an eBook?
  • Do you want to sell 100, 1000 or 10,000 copies?
  • Maybe you want to print enough copies for a gift to your family members.
  • Do you want your charity or one you support to have more exposure using a book as the vehicle?
  • Do you want to build a business with backend products or use your book to position you as an expert and speak from stage?
  • It may be you want your book to be a launching pad for your workshops, consulting or a seminar.
  • What products or sales funnel could your book act as a lead generator for?

Think about your book as being your business card or brochure rather than the income source in itself. This bigger vision for your book is important to your success.

Think big but start small.

  • Where do you want your book to appear?
  • Where do you see it online and offline?
  • Is it a skinny book or a full book?
  • A one off, stand alone book or part of a book series. Maybe  a skinny series?marketing
  • What title could you give your book?
  • Who is your book’s audience?

Write down absolutely anything you can think of for your book brainstorm.

Being able to clearly see your vision for your book and holding that can be a huge part of the process of writing the book and its eventual success. Because you have seen it from the start.

You don’t need to be Shakespeare to write a non-fiction book, you just need to have the passion for sharing your knowledge and  break it up into chunks that will become your chapters.

Brainstorm your book today and take the first step to being a published author.
